Bureau of Immigration Launches Manhunt for Escaped Jordanian Violator
Manila – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has initiated a manhunt for a Jordanian national who fled following a court hearing in Makati City. The individual, identified as Tarek Nihad Siam, age 47, vanished after a hearing at the Regional Trial Court Branch 237.
According to Philippines News Agency, Siam was originally arrested in 2022 and handed over to the BI by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). On January 16, he was taken to the court in Makati City for a hearing. The hearing concluded around noon, and Siam allegedly requested to use the restroom. He was permitted to do so, but upon realizing he was taking an unusually long time, a BI agent forced open the restroom door to discover Siam had escaped through a small window. An investigation is underway regarding Siam’s escorts.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco has ordered the formation of tracker teams to locate and apprehend Siam. The BI is collaborating with local authorities for his capture. Following the incident, the two job order personnel guarding Siam have been dismissed from service, and the team leader, an organic employee, is facing charges. Tansingco has directed the filing of criminal charges against the three employees for infidelity in the custody of a person deprived of liberty.
Records show that Siam was arrested on charges of gun possession and physical injuries. Additionally, the Interpol National Central Bureau-Manila received information that Siam is wanted in Abu Dhabi for assault and alcohol abuse.
The BI is requesting public cooperation in providing information on Siam’s whereabouts. Reports can be made to the Commissioner’s Hotline through Facebook Messenger at facebook.com/immigration.helpline.ph.
