Brunei Darussalam to Conduct Annual Census of Employers and Employees for 2025

Bandar seri begawan: The Department of Labour, Ministry of Home Affairs, will conduct the Annual Census of Employers and Employees, Wages, Earnings and Hours of Work for 2025 from 31st October to 30th November.

According to Radio Television Brunei, all Business Entities, Private Institutions, Cooperatives, Associations, Clubs, and Statutory Bodies in the private sector operating in Brunei Darussalam, excluding Domestic and Private Services, are required to submit information on workers, including employers, owners, and managers. This information must pertain to those employed with the respective entities until 30th October. The data should be submitted via a registered e-Darussalam account, with completion guidelines accessible through the provided link or the official Labour Department website.

Employers, owners, and managers are urged to personally complete the census information to prevent potential misuse of confidential data by third parties. It is noted that receipts from the Employer and Employee Cen
sus 2024 will expire after 30th October 2025.

Under the Employment Information Act 1974, Chapter 99, Section 3 (1), all employers must complete the census forms. Section 8 (1) of the Act stipulates penalties for non-compliance, including a fine of $2,500 and six months of imprisonment for failing to provide required information, not using the specified form, or providing false information. Continuous offences incur a further fine of Fifty Brunei Dollars per day.
