Brunei and Indonesia Strengthen Tourism Ties Through Networking Session


Jakarta: The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, in conjunction with the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Jakarta and the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA), organized a networking session to enhance partnerships and explore collaborative opportunities between travel agencies from Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia. The session, under the theme ‘Brunei Yuk! Destinasi Halal Favoritmu,’ emphasized Brunei as a unique tourism destination in Asia.



According to Radio Television Brunei, the Brunei Darussalam delegation was led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. The event was also attended by His Excellency Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to Indonesia. Cultural performances and presentations were part of the session, showcasing the rich heritage of both nations.



Yang Berhormat held a meeting with Her Excellency Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, the newly appointed Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia. This meeting was a significant step in forging connections and exploring potential areas for bilateral tourism collaboration between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia.



A notable achievement of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Tourism Development Department and ASITA. This collaboration aims to promote inbound travel between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia, fostering cooperation in joint promotions, tourism development initiatives, and creating shared opportunities to enhance the tourism sectors of both nations.
