Bagong Pilipinas Mobile Clinic Initiative Enhances Healthcare Access for Negrenses
CEBU CITY – The healthcare landscape for residents of Negros is set to improve with the introduction of a Bagong Pilipinas mobile clinic, an initiative aimed at expanding medical services across the region. The clinic was officially handed over to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos during a ceremony in Cebu City on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the mobile clinic will serve as a vital resource not only for regular medical care but also during medical missions and in times of disasters and emergencies. The initiative is part of the First Lady’s “Lab for All” project, which seeks to provide free medical consultations, laboratory services, and medicines to communities, especially those in remote and underserved areas.
Earlier in June, Bacolod City received a similar mobile clinic, enhancing local healthcare capacities, as stated by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez during the “Lab for All” caravan. The mobile units are equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and quality.
The project’s turnover was marked as a significant achievement in the government’s ongoing mission to ensure equitable healthcare access across all demographics and locations within the Philippines. Governor Lacson praised the First Lady’s dedication to health and well-being, acknowledging her role in advancing these crucial services.
The event was also attended by key health officials including Department of Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, Undersecretary Mary Ann Maestral, and Western Visayas Regional Director Adriano Suba-an, and coincided with the opening ceremonies of Cebu’s 455th Founding Anniversary at the Cebu Capitol grounds.
