Post: Launch of Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing Strengthens Blood Safety in Brunei

Jerudong park medical centre: In strengthening laboratory diagnostic capabilities and enhancing blood safety standards in Brunei Darussalam, Jerudong Park Medical Centre, JPMC, officially launched the Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing, NAAT. The launching ceremony took place at JPMC.

According to Radio Television Brunei, NAAT is an advanced testing method that detects viral genetic material, RNA or DNA, directly in donor blood samples. In addition to conventional antibody and antigen-based screening, NAAT can identify infections at a much earlier stage, before the body produces detectable antibodies or antigens. It also improves the sensitivity screening, supporting more reliable identification of viruses such as HIV and hepatitis, and ensuring safer outcomes for patients. The introduction of NAAT enhances JPMC's diagnostic capabilities by enabling more accurate and timely detection, while complementing existing screening methods and aligning with international best practices.
