Post: Bacolod City Mayor Initiates Investigation into Fatal Road Accident Involving Teachers

BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has called for a detailed investigation into a devastating road accident that resulted in the death of a public school teacher and injuries to over 30 others. The accident occurred in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, involving a city-owned tourist bus late Friday afternoon.

According to Philippines News Agency, the bus was carrying 32 teachers from Paglaum Village Elementary School and five family members, returning from a team-building event in San Carlos City when the tragedy struck. The accident happened as the bus was descending along Purok Talus in Barangay Igmaya-an around 5:40 p.m., with a reported brake failure causing the vehicle to tip over.

Mayor Benitez has assured that the city government is actively providing hospital assistance to all injured parties and coordinating with local hospitals to ensure the highest standard of medical care. The Department of Social Services and Development has also been tasked with assessing the needs of the victims and facilitating swift assistance.

Expressing his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased teacher, Mayor Benitez reiterated the city's commitment to supporting all affected by the accident and pledged to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
