Address Online Threats Holistically

Bandar Seri Begawan: On smart phone hacking and children’s protection in social media, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications explained that through cooperation between the Royal Brunei Police Force, Unified National Networks, UNN and internet providers, any website that has been confirmed as a scam will be blocked immediately.

According to Radio Television Brunei, measures and standard operating procedures to address any complaint pertaining to telephone numbers that were used for SMS and call scams have been set and implemented by the related parties. For measures that supports the initiative in protecting children from cybercrime and inappropriate content, the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry, AITI is working with UNN to block websites that are immoral and violate the internet code of practice. Over the past 5 years, 135 websites have been blocked.
