Bandar Seri Begawan: Drug rehabilitation and prevention, as well as children's protection on social media, were among the highlights of deliberations on the fourth day of the First Meeting of the 21st Legislative Council session, 4th March 2025. In response to a query on drug rehabilitation and prevention, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy said the Prime Minister's Office gives special attention to Pusat Al-Islah's efforts in providing treatment and rehabilitation services to its residents.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof emphasized that drug rehabilitation requires strong support from the community. Additional support to former residents also needs a more holistic approach for an effective and sustainable recovery. It becomes the responsibility of various stakeholders as part of the Whole of Nation approach, specifically in addressing factors that contribute to the failure of recovery, such as social environment, employment, and community support.
