35 Participants Awarded Certificates at Closing of Hybrid Rice Senior Expert Consultant Project.


Bandar Seri Begawan: 35 participants of the Hybrid Rice Senior Expert Consultants project in Brunei Darussalam received their certificates at the official closing ceremony held on the afternoon of December 5th. This initiative forms part of the ongoing collaboration between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China, focusing on enhancing paddy and rice production by boosting paddy productivity in Brunei Darussalam. The project was jointly organized by the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood and Yuan Long Ping High-Tech Agriculture, with support from the Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of China.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the certificates were presented by His Excellency Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei, and Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. The participants included officers and staff from the Department of Agriculture and Agri
food, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, and local farmers.

The project aims to strengthen the agricultural ties between Brunei Darussalam and China, focusing on technological exchange and expertise in hybrid rice production. The collaboration is expected to significantly contribute to the nation’s food security by increasing local rice yield and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
