212 New Cases, 5 New Clusters Detected, 240 Recovered

212 new COVID-19 infections were confirmed, taking the total cases to 12,113. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest  COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al’Afiah, Ministry of Health.

 

There are 97 additional new cases to 16 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. 5 new clusters were detected that involved 31 cases. All the new clusters are accommodation clusters, which two of the clusters namely; TSL Construction Staffhouse Cluster and Traine Aire Sdn Bhd Cluster are housing clusters that accommodate the companies’ employees. 6 clusters have been closed following no new cases in the clusters for 28 days. The clusters are 3016 Cluster, 3788 Cluster, 4360 Custer, 5673 Cluster, 5677 Cluster and Little Audrey Cluster. The total active clusters now stand at 166. In addition, 1 import case arrived from Russia via Singapore on board Singapore Airlines flight SQ 148 on the 15th of October 2021. 83 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of infection.

 

Meanwhile, 240 cases recovered, bringing the total recovered cases to 9,608, whereas the total active cases are 2,424. 6 cases are in Category 5 and currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation, with 3 cases requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. 17 cases in Category 4 require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 4,944 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, taking the total lab tests carried out since January 2020 to 473,531 tests.
