Cleaning Campaign at Jubli Perak, Kuala Belait

 

Towards maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of the environment, a local company held a Jubli Perak beach cleaning campaign in Kuala Belait, 25th September morning.

 

150 employees of the Serikandi Group participated in the campaign, led by Shaikh Haji Khalid bin Shaikh Haji Ahmad, Chairman and Managing Director of the company. The initiative aims to raise awareness on the importance of keeping the environment clean and the impact of littering on the ecosystem.

YASKA Childhood Cancer and Thalassaemia Awareness Day

 

Some 400,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer. In 2018, the World Health Organisation, WHO has launched the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer aimed to increase the survival rate among children with cancer to at least 60 per cent by 2030 as well as reduce suffering and improve their quality of life. The Minister of Health said the matter at the Children’s Cancer Foundation, YASKA Childhood Cancer and Thalassaemia Awareness Day. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar said that more than 8 in 10 children recover from cancer if they receive early treatment and the best care. Many children who recover from cancer able live long, happy, healthy and productive lives.

 

According to the Minister of Health, in Brunei Darussalam, a total of 335 children aged between 0 and 19 were diagnosed with cancer between 2002 and 2021. However, the death rate due to cancer during the same period has decreased from 31.25 per cent to 27 per cent. Meanwhile, Thalassemia is a genetic disease of red blood cells that causes the body to lack hemoglobin blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body. As a genetic disease, thalassemia is passed down to children from both parents who carry the thalassemia. Treatment for children with cancer and thalassemia has progressed significantly and has led to an increase in the survival rate.

 

Donations from Borneo Insider Guide – (BIG) Magazine to YASKA were also presented in which BIG Magazine is a fund in raising donations to help “Childhood Cancer” during the World Cancer Day which was held last February. The Children Awareness Month is celebrated every September aims to further enhance the public’s support, collect donations and provide awareness on cancer among children. Also held on 25th September, was various activities such as blood donation, quizzes and exhibition on cancer.

Appreciation Certificates Presentation Ceremony

The increase in the number of appointed Committee Members of the Kampung Masin Mosque Takmir Committee is a new achievement. With a variety of backgrounds, experiences and a combination of youths, the Kampung Masin Mosque Takmir Committee is expected to excel in providing programmes or activities to glorify the mosque with the aim of highlighting the Islamic Eminence more effectively. The hope was voiced by Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs at the Appreciation Certificates Presentation of Kampung Masin Mosque Takmir Committee Members for 2019-2021 and appointed letters for 2022-2025 sessions.

 

The Deputy Minister said that through the new Takmir Committee, it is hoped that the institution of the mosque will be more effective as an agent to unite the community, play a role in the formation of the congregation’s spirituality, increasing love for Al-Quran and knowledge as well as a reference centre and service to the community. Therefore, to the appointed Committee Members, it is important for them to understand their respective duties, jurisdictions and responsibilities. Indeed, the appointment is a high and noble trust.

 

The ceremony continues with the launching of the Empowering Kampung Masin Community Charity Project. At the ceremony, some 17 heads of families received donations through the charity project. The charity project is a collaboration between Kampung Masin Mosque Takmir Committee Member and ASEAN Commissioner on Women for Brunei Darussalam, which aims to help the needy such as single mothers, orphans and the disabled.

Mass Sunat Hajat Prayer

 

The Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah held a mass Sunat Hajat prayer for students attended in the tuition classes under the Education Intervention Programme, PIP for Brunei Muara District and Temburong District who will sit for the public examinations end of this year. The function was held on 25th September morning, at the Masjid Universiti, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD.

 

Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs as Member of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors. This year, 488 students attended PIP tuition classes in eight centres throughout the country, consisting of 206 students who will sit for the Primary School Assessment; 131 students will sit the BCGCE ‘O’ Level Examination and 151 students will sit the Religious Primary School Certificate Examination.

 

Meanwhile, the mass Sunat Hajat prayer for students in Belait District and Tutong District was held at the Zainab Lumut Mosque. Present was Dato Seri Paduka Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office as Member of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors.

Cleaning Campaign at Kampong Kapok Mosque

Personal and environment cleanliness is highly demanded by Islam, especially in places of worship such as mosques. In this regard, a cleaning campaign was held at the Kampong Kapok Mosque, 25th September morning.

 

The campaign was jointly organised by the Public Service Club, Mentiri and undergraduates of Universiti Brunei Darussalam as well as the Kampong Kapok residents. The campaign, among other things, focuses on the mosque route.

Counter Operating Hours (Travel Document)

The Department of Immigration and National Registration, JIPK, informed that starting on the 26th of September 2022, the service counters operating hours for traveling document section and identity card section are as follows:

 

Operating hours for the Travel Document registration service are Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 7 in the morning to 7 in the evening. On Friday, the counters are open from 8 to 11 in the morning, while the special service counters, including seniors aged 60 and above, will be open from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon on the 3rd Floor, JIPK Headquarters.

 

The travel document collection point is on the ground floor of the Law Enforcement Division on Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon and Friday from 8 to 11 in the morning.

 

While the operating hours for the registration service counter and the Travel Document collection service counter at the Kuala Belait, Tutong and Temburong Branch Offices are Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 8 in the morning to 12 noon and 1:45 to 4 in the afternoon, while Friday, 8 to 11 in the morning. The public is advised not to arrive too early to get their respective queue numbers as the service counter at the Travel Documents Section will be opened for 12 hours starting on 26th September 2022.

 

As for the Identity Card Section, the registration and collection service counters will be opened every Friday at all Branch Offices, JIPK from 30th of September 2022, from 8 to 11 in the morning. The public is advised to complete the application form and bring the relevant documents required.

Voting and Election Ceremony of Village Head Candidates

Village Head is the Head and Leader of the community at the grass-root level of the village residents. A Village Head is responsible for leading the unity, harmony, prosperity and well-being of community life in a village as well as driving force for transformation and socio-economic development of the village community. Awang Misle bin Haji Abd Karim, Brunei Muara District Officer said the matter at the Voting and Candidate Election Ceremony for Head of Kampung Pengkalan Batu, 25th September morning.

 

A sole candidate, Awang Ali Hamzah bin Asmalee is 36 years old, a bachelor degree holder in literature from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and is currently working at an Insurance company.

 

Meanwhile, the Voting and Candidate Election Ceremony for the Head of Kampung Junjungan was also held at the Junjungan Primary School Hall. Present was Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, Assistant Brunei Muara District Officer. The only candidate, Awang Haji Tamam @ Haji Ahmad Shah Tamimi bin Haji Timbang, is 60 years old and holds a Master of Education from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and currently holds the position of Acting Village Head of Kampung Junjongan.
