Guidelines during Endemic Phase

The Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy in the media conference stated that with the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the announcement of the Endemic Phase under the National COVID-19 Recovery Framework which will commence on Wednesday, 10th Jamadilawal 1443 corresponding to 15th December 2021, the Steering Committee for COVID-19 has convened to set the measures or guidelines for the implementation of the Early Endemic Phase which will be implemented for one month, starting Wednesday, 15th December 2021 until Friday, 14th January 2022. Meanwhile, the movement restriction which was implemented during ‘Operasi Peralihan’, that is, the instruction to stay at home from 10 at night till 4 in the morning, will be extended until Friday, 14th January 2022.

 

The Measures or guidelines for the Early Endemic Phase are: All individuals are allowed to enter government and private premises, or attend events, regardless of their vaccination status. This is the general requirement for entry into any premises. However, unvaccinated individuals are required to undergo Antigen Rapid Test, ART, for which the validity period of the test result is two days. Children under 18 years old who have not received or completed their vaccinations are allowed to enter premises without the need for ART testing, provided that they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. Meanwhile, specific requirements are: For mass and private gatherings, the venue capacity is limited to 75% of premise capacity or not more than 300 persons, whichever is the lesser number. Buffet service during functions and at restaurants is not permitted, except for dome serving, although distribution of take-home packaged meals are encouraged. For mosques, suraus and prayer halls: The Ministry of Religious Affairs will provide further details on the updated guidelines for this matter in due course.

National Vaccination Programme, 8 Directive Violations Issued with Compound Fines

On the 11th of December 2021, 4,628 individuals have received the COVID-19 vaccine injection, including 4,040 adolescents aged 12-17.

 

This means that 94.2 per cent of the total population have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 88 per cent of the total population have completed the COVID-19 vaccination.

 

During ‘Operasi Peralihan’ carried out from 10 at night to 4 in the morning, 8 violations of the directive nationwide were issued with compound fines, whereby 7 were violations of the directive to stay at home.

5 New Cases, 28 Cases Recovered

5 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed, taking the total cases to 15,348. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation in Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon. Joining the media conference at Dewan Al-Afiah, Ministry of Health were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy.

 

There are 4 additional new cases to 1 of the existing active cluster who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. There is no new cluster detected. 2 clusters have been closed following no new detected cases for 28 days, namely 12977 Cluster and Massutera Engineering Sdn Bhd Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 99 clusters. One new case is still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

 

28 cases have recovered, bringing the total recovered cases to 14,973, while the total active cases are 275 cases. 1 case is in Category 5 who is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit and requires assistance of artificial ventilation and additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. In the past 24 hours, 2,148 samples have been tested for the SARS-Co-V-2 virus, taking the total laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 664,027 tests.
