201 New Cases, 5 New Clusters, 93 Recovered

201 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Brunei Darussalam yesterday, bringing the total number to 5,586.

Yesterday, there are 79 additional new cases to 17 of the existing active clusters. The cases in these active clusters are individuals who are currently being quarantined and were found to be in contact with several confirmed cases. Meanwhile, five new clusters have been detected. The new clusters are, the Eden Garden Contractor Cluster with 13 new cases; and 5404 Cluster with 5 new cases; 5429 Cluster with 9 new cases; 5441 Cluster that contains 5 new cases; and 5445 Cluster with 6 new cases. Meanwhile, one cluster has been closed following no new detected cases in the cluster for 28 days. The closed cluster is the 495 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 100 clusters. In the meantime, 84 cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection. Meanwhile, 93 cases have recovered yesterday bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 3,770 cases, with 1,779 cases remaining active.

Among the active cases, eight cases are in critical condition in Category 5 and are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation and one case requires the help of an additional heart/lung machine ECMO. Twenty-six Category 4 cases require oxygen assistance and is under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, a total of 5,195 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 317,241.
