Working Papers Presented at 14th International Conference on Islam in Malay World
Bandar seri begawan: Working papers were tabled at the 14th International Conference on Islam in Malay World, held on the afternoon of October 7th.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), was present at the event. Professor Dato Doctor Mohd Fakhruddin bin Mokti, Dean of the Faculty of Usuluddin, UNISSA, presented a working paper titled ‘Islam Di Alam Melayu: Keilmuan Islam Mendepani Cabaran Era Kecerdasan Buatan, AI’. He addressed the challenges Islamic thought faces in the digital age and the era of artificial intelligence, emphasizing the need for appropriate responses to these challenges.
Professor Doctor H. Rosihon Anwar, Rector of the Graduate School at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati in Bandung, Indonesia, presented another working paper titled ‘Navigating The Future: Islamic Science And Knowledge In The Malay World Confronting Artificial Intelligence, AI.’ His presentation discussed how the Muslim community in southern Thailand has integrated AI as a tool for education and empowerment, aligning with the mandate to elevate the community’s status through knowledge.
Professor Doctor Ibrahem Narongraksakhet from Prince Songkla University, Pattani, Thailand, presented a working paper titled ‘Roles of Religious Leaders in Promoting Dialogues Among Different Religious Sects in Thailand.’ He emphasized the importance of sustainable capacity building and the support of institutions, advocating for collaborative sharing between religious institutions, communities, and governmental bodies to ensure dialogue initiatives lead to community harmony.
