PCO Secretary Endorses NPO’s Shift Towards Modernization and Digitalization

Quezon City – the Secretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, has committed to advancing the modernization and digitalization of the National Printing Office (NPO). This move is expected to enhance the efficiency of services provided by the NPO across the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, Velicaria-Garafil expressed steadfast support for the NPO’s upgrades in both equipment and organizational structure. She underscored the intent to ensure that the NPO keeps pace with technological changes, including digitalization, with the PCO’s assistance in reviewing and reinforcing the NPO’s mandate.

The PCO Secretary underscored the critical role of the NPO in the electoral process, especially during the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on October 30. Velicaria-Garafil lauded the NPO for its collaboration with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in producing official ballots and other electoral materials.

Garafil also commended the NPO for its efficient service delivery, positioning it as a vital component of the government’s communication arm under the President and the executive branch. She highlighted the NPO’s noteworthy financial health, which contrasts with other agencies that often require additional budgetary allocations from Congress for their annual operations.

NPO superintendent Neil Macaraeg reported on the agency’s proactive steps towards digitalization, which include acquiring new technology and establishing a one-stop shop to streamline client services. Preparations are also underway for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.

The event was graced by government officials and guests, including Comelec chair George Garcia. NPO Director Rene Acosta hosted the anniversary event, marking a new chapter for the agency as it embraces technological advancements for the future.
