CAGAYAN DE ORO — Vice President Sara Duterte spearheaded the distribution of PHP300,000 in grants to LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs in Cagayan de Oro, highlighting the commitment to equality and non-discrimination in the business sector.

According to Philippines News Agency, the grants were awarded to 20 distinguished LGBTQ+ business owners, each receiving PHP15,000 under the "Mag Negosyo Ta 'Day" initiative. The event, which took place during the second annual Pride Reception hosted by the OVP, emphasizes the administration's support for the LGBTQ+ community's economic empowerment. Vice President Duterte, during a media interview, reiterated the importance of equality and non-discrimination for peaceful community living.

The OVP Pride Reception is part of a broader effort to amplify voices and foster dialogue that promotes LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance across the Philippines. In partnership with LGBT Pilipinas, Inc., the initiative also seeks to raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities within the LGBTQ+ community. Last year, the program benefited four organizations and groups in other parts of the country, with a total of PHP150,000 disbursed to support their businesses.
