Post: University of Makati Hosts PCO’s Anti-Fake News Caravan

MAKATI – The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) will conduct its CommUNITY Campus Caravan at the University of Makati as part of its ongoing campaign against disinformation. The event, spanning two days, is part of the PCO's Media and Information Literacy campaign. This initiative seeks to address challenges posed by misinformation and fake news.

According to Philippines News Agency, PCO Assistant Secretary Dale De Vera emphasized the importance of preparing the youth to discern truth in the media. The event will feature speakers from the media sector, including representatives from Meta, who will discuss the critical role of truth-seeking in today's digital environment. PCO's attached agencies, including Radio Television Malacanang, the Philippine News Agency, and the Bureau of Broadcast Services, will also participate, setting up booths to display their functions within the government's communication framework.

The caravan, which first launched in late 2023, has previously made stops in regions across the Visayas and Mindanao, including Tacloban, Leyte, Cagayan de Oro, and Bukidnon. It aims to equip the next generation of communicators with the necessary tools to navigate and contribute to the media landscape effectively.
