Post: Two Foreign Nationals Sentenced for Overstaying Under Immigration Act

Bandar seri begawan: The Department of Immigration and National Registration has successfully prosecuted two foreign nationals for overstaying in the country, under Section 15 of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17. According to Radio Television Brunei, 43-year-old Ferose Ali Abdul Muthalif from India was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and three strokes of whipping after pleading guilty. His sentencing commenced on February 12, 2026. In a related case, 34-year-old Md Sulaiman Hossain from Bangladesh received a sentence of five months of imprisonment and three strokes of whipping, also after pleading guilty. His sentencing began on February 15, 2026.
