Brunei Darussalam under the Brunei National Council on Climate Change, BNCCC aims to increase its carbon sink by planting 500 thousand new trees by 2035. Towards this, a tree planting initiative was held yesterday morning at Taman Riadah, Jalan Pusat Persidangan.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Engineer Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, Minister of Development and co-chair of BNCCC; and Her Excellency Tiffany McDonald, Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam unveiled a plaque to commemorate the initiative.
Her Excellency Tiffany McDonald said the plaque is a lasting memento to acknowledge the Australian Government’s contribution to Brunei Darussalam’s efforts to sustain its environment and address climate change.
