Post: Tacloban City Residents Receive Free Healthcare Services Through ‘Lab for All’ Initiative

Tacloban City, Leyte — The Department of Health (DOH) has successfully provided free consultations and medications to 5,000 patients in Tacloban City as part of the 'Laboratoryo, Konsulta at Gamot para sa Lahat' (Lab for All) caravan. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance access to healthcare services across the Philippines.

According to Philippines News Agency, the three-day event, which took place from July 2 to July 4, delivered a total of 11,788 healthcare services across multiple venues in Tacloban City, including the People's Center, Eastern Visayas State University Gym, Marasbaras National High School Gym, Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Gym, and Tacloban City National High School Gym. "We are grateful to the First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for her support, as this initiative aligns with the DOH's mission to ensure that all Filipinos have access to quality healthcare services," Herbosa stated.

The 'Lab for All' program, which was launched in June 2023, aims to make primary healthcare services more accessible to the Filipino population. The services provided during the caravan included consultations in internal medicine, surgery, ear, nose, throat, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and family medicine. Additional services included laboratory and diagnostic tests such as ultrasound, blood chemistry, complete blood count, urinalysis, computed tomography scans, and X-rays, as well as dental services, vaccinations, medicine distribution, and vision screening with prescription lenses.

The DOH has announced that the 'Lab for All' initiative will continue to be deployed in various parts of the country over the next four years, reinforcing the government's commitment to improving public health and ensuring that medical services are accessible to all citizens.
