Surigao City - The provincial government of Surigao del Norte commenced construction on a new PHP30-million Provincial Agricultural Trading Center on Friday, aiming to streamline the distribution of local farm and fishery products.
According to Philippines News Agency, the trading center, located on a one-hectare plot donated by Cortes Development Corporation in Barangay Luna, will manage the inflow and outflow of agricultural goods in both the city and the province. "The center will also ensure the reasonable and competitive price of agriculture and fishery products for both the consumers and the producers," the DA-13 stated in a press release on Saturday.
The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Surigao del Norte Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers and DA-13 Executive Director Arlan Mangelen. Mangelen highlighted that the center is part of a broader initiative to enhance the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, which focuses on providing accessible, healthy, and affordable food to the public.
