Post: Sultan of Brunei Welcomes UK Supreme Court Deputy President for Judicial Cooperation Talks

Bandar Seri Begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received The Right Honourable Lord Patrick Stewart Hodge, Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, at Istana Nurul Iman. The meeting was part of Lord Hodge's Working Visit aimed at strengthening judicial cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Lord Hodge was accompanied by Captain Jonathan Caple, Acting British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam. Also present at the audience ceremony were Yang Amat Arif Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong Wan Oon, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohammed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohammed Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. Discussions focused on lectures delivered to the judiciary, legal community, government ministries, and educational institutions on topics such as 'The Impact of the Supreme Court on the Wider Economy' and 'The Work of the Privy Council'. The exchange highlighted the ongoing importance of sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practices for the mutual benefit of both nations.
