Sultan of Brunei Receives Swiss Federal Councillor for Bilateral Talks

Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received His Excellency Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, in an audience ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman. The meeting marked His Excellency’s first official visit to Brunei Darussalam from July 11th to 12th, 2025.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Excellency was accompanied by His Excellency Frank Grtter, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations that have been in place since 1984. Both nations expressed interest in increasing people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding through capacity-building programs.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, was also present. His Majesty conveyed appreciation to Switzerland for its role in hosting international organizations and its ongoing commitment to multilateralism and diplomacy.
