Sultan of Brunei Meets with Philippine Defence Secretary

Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received The Honourable Gilberto C. Teodoro, Junior, Secretary of National Defence of the Republic of the Philippines, in an audience ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman. The meeting was attended by Retired Major General Angelito M. De Leon, Undersecretary for Defence Affairs, Her Excellency Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, along with other senior officials from the Department of National Defence of the Philippines.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the visit underscores the close and longstanding defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines. These relations were solidified with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation on 22nd August 2001, further enhancing bilateral cooperation in defence matters.
