Post: Sultan of Brunei Meets Myanmar Deputy Prime Minister for Bilateral Talks

Bandar Seri Begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received in audience His Excellency U Than Swe, the Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, during a two-day official visit to Brunei Darussalam. The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman on the afternoon of January 23rd.

According to Radio Television Brunei, accompanying His Excellency U Than Swe were Mr. Myint Naing Oo, Director-General of the Planning and Administrative Department of Myanmar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Daw Khin Sandar, Charg© d'Affaires at the Myanmar Embassy in Brunei Darussalam. Also present at the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei.

During the meeting, His Majesty and His Excellency discussed the bilateral relations between Brunei and Myanmar, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern. The discussions covered developments within ASEAN and Myanmar's progress on implementing the Five-Point Consensus, which was agreed upon during the ASEAN Leaders' Meeting in Jakarta on April 24, 2021.
