Sultan of Brunei Hosts Sabah’s Yang di-Pertua Negeri for Landmark Visit

Bandar Seri Begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, along with Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, welcomed His Excellency Tun Dato Seri Paduka Datuk Seri Panglima Doctor Musa bin Haji Aman, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, and his spouse, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Faridah, at Istana Nurul Iman.

According to Radio Television Brunei, this audience ceremony marks His Excellency’s inaugural visit to Brunei Darussalam since assuming the office as the 11th Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah on January 1, 2025. The visit highlights the enduring and robust relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the State of Sabah.

The ceremony was attended by notable members of the Brunei royal family, including His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah.

During the meeting, discussions centered on enhancing bilateral relations and collaborative efforts in areas that serve the mutual interests of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, with a particular focus on the State of Sabah.

Following the audience ceremony, a luncheon was held, attended by His Majesty, Her Majesty, His Excellency, and his spouse. The event also saw the presence of Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence as Minister-in-Attendance, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.
