Miniature Flag Distribution Marks Brunei’s National Day Celebrations


Tutong: In conjunction with the 41st Brunei Darussalam National Day Celebration, the Ministry of Education through the Department of Co-Curricular Education and the Department of Private Education, in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, organized a Miniature Flag Distribution Ceremony and ‘Semarak Pengibaran Bendera’ Programme for primary and secondary schools as well as higher education institutions. This patriotic initiative was held simultaneously across all four districts.



According to Radio Television Brunei, the central event took place at Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School in Tutong District, where the distribution was officiated by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, the Minister of Education. This underscored the government’s commitment to involving educational institutions in national celebrations.



In Belait District, the ceremony was held at Chung Hua Middle School, Kuala Belait. Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Md. Salleh bin Haji Othman, a Member of the Legislative Council, officiated the flag distribution, emphasizing the district’s participation in fostering national pride.



Puni Primary School was the focal point in the Temburong District, where the distribution event was led by Yang Berhormat Haji Awang Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir, also a Member of the Legislative Council. This event aimed at encouraging a sense of belonging and patriotism among the younger generation.



In Brunei Muara District, the ceremony took place at Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA. Doctor Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, officiated the distribution, highlighting the role of higher education institutions in national celebrations.



Additionally, at Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School, the flags were distributed by Awang Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Religion at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, reinforcing the involvement of religious institutions in the national event.
