Bandar Seri Begawan: Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, explained among the strategic steps of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in ensuring a spiritual approach to address mental health more effectively. This was in response to a query by Yang Berhormat Awang Zainol bin Haji Mohamed, regarding efforts to integrate spiritual treatment with conventional scientific treatment.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat emphasized that to implement these strategies effectively, the ministry exercises considerable caution. The approach requires not only individuals who are knowledgeable and skilled in mental health and spiritual practices but also those who can master specific recitations from Al-Qur'an verses and the series of recitations in ruqiyyah treatment. Furthermore, it is essential that spiritual healers receive training in mental health knowledge to ensure a comprehensive approach to treatment.
