Southwest Monsoon Expected to Continue Affecting the Philippines
MANILA — The southwest monsoon, known locally as ‘habagat,’ continues to impact the western parts of Luzon and Visayas, bringing scattered rains across various regions, the state weather bureau reported on Saturday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its early morning update, the monsoon will cause cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms particularly over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan. The agency has issued a warning for possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall.
Metro Manila and other parts of the country are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Meanwhile, northern Luzon will face moderate winds, affecting coastal waters. The rest of the archipelago will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions.
Temperature forecasts for key cities include: Metro Manila ranging from 26°C to 34°C; Baguio City from 18°C to 22°C; Tuguegarao City from 25°C to 34°C; Laoag City from 26°C to 31°C; Legazpi City from 26°C to 32°C; Metro Cebu from 27°C to 33°C; Puerto Princesa City from 25°C to 32°C; Metro Davao from 25°C to 33°C; and Zamboanga City from 25°C to 33°C.
