South Cotabato town mayor dies from heart ailment
Twelve days after celebrating his 66th birthday and four days after suffering from a mild stroke, Mayor Floro Gandam Sr. of Lake Sebu, South Cotabato has died in a hospital in Gen. Santos City. Maria Gandam, the mayor’s wife, said in a radio interview that his husband has been comatose since he was admitted to a private hospital in Gen. Santos City on Sept. 28 after complaining of chest pain. He breathed his last at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday. ‘He had a mild stroke on Sept. 28 and was unconscious since,’ Maria said of her husband, a member of the Tboli tribe in South Cotabato. On Sept. 21, Gandam celebrated his 66th birthday. Vice Mayor Remie M. Unggol will assume as the new town chief executive.
