Post: Skim Tabungan Anak Damit Introduced to Encourage Early Savings

Bandar seri begawan: The Ministry of Finance and Economy has announced the launch of a new initiative, 'Skim Tabungan Anak Damit', set to begin on March 1, 2026. This scheme aims to promote a savings culture within the community from a young age.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the 'Skim Tabungan Anak Damit' will provide financial assistance through the establishment of the 'Akaun Si Manja Khas' at Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB. A one-time credit of 240 Brunei Dollars will be allocated for each newborn meeting specific criteria. Eligibility requires the infant to be a Brunei citizen, a permanent resident without other citizenship, or a foreign citizen with a Brunei citizen or stateless mother, with births occurring in Brunei.

The scheme allows parents or guardians to claim the benefit until the child's first birthday. It will replace the Disposable Diapers and Breastfeeding Aid Scheme, which will be discontinued as of the scheme's start date. Assistance under the previous scheme will continue for births occurring before the new scheme's implementation.

For more information on the scheme, individuals can visit the Ministry of Finance and Economy's social media platforms or website, contact the Treasury Department at 741 9444, or email '[email protected]'.
