Bandar seri begawan: In the third quarter of 2025, retail sales experienced a decline as reported by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Economy. Retail sales showed a decrease of 2.3 percent compared to the same period in 2024, with a reduction in sales revenue. This decrease was primarily driven by lower sales in department stores, supermarkets, and computer and telecommunications equipment. Retail sales activity also recorded a negative growth of 2.7 percent in terms of volume compared to Q3 2024.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the sales of food and beverages services also saw a decrease in both sales value and volume compared to Q3 2024. This downturn was due to lower sales in restaurants, beverage serving activities, and other food service activities such as food courts and food kiosks. Volume in the food and beverages services sector also recorded negative growth. Full reports of both activities are available on the DEPS's website.
