Post: Regional Workshop Highlights Importance of Maritime Governance and Sustainability

Gadong: The Regional Workshop on the International Maritime Organisation Civil Liability and Compensation Regime emphasised the importance of maritime governance and sustainability. The workshop underscored a collective commitment to accountability and the promotion of safe, environmentally sustainable, and harmonised maritime operation globally.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications stated that the event reflects Brunei Darussalam's dedication to fostering international partnerships and advancing maritime governance. The opening of the workshop took place on 20th January morning, at a hotel in Gadong.

Engineer Awang Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof also addressed the significance of regional collaboration and capacity building in strengthening the country's readiness for maritime emergencies. The 4-day workshop gathers 24 representatives from 13 member states across the Asia-Pacific region. The primary objectives are to facilitate the enforcement of liability regimes and provide a comprehensive overview of these conventions.
