Price Control Act

8 companies were issued compound fines under the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 throughout the month of August. The compound fines were issued during routine inspections carried out by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, DEPS as well as joint operations between DEPS and other enforcement agencies.

The companies were Quthairah Enterprise, Kampung Burong Lepas; Chop Teo Seng, Kampung Gana, Mukim Liang; Ismaco Mini Mart, Kampung Sungai Bakong, Lumut and Ya-Nur Trading Company Sendirian Berhad, Temburong. All companies were each issued $500 compund fines. While Warisan Utamajaya Emporium and Supermarket, Kampung Sungai Tilong and Arirang Enterprise, Sungai Liang were each issued $700 compound fines. All companies were issued compund fines for selling goods exceeding the set maximum price.

Meanwhile, Ya-Nur Trading Company Sendirian Berhad, Temburong; Sarwan Sendirian Berhad and Absara Enterprise, Muara Town, were each issued $500 compound fines for failing to display price on goods.

At the meantime, eight Warning Notices were issued to eight business premises in August for offences such as selling cooking oil, infant formula milk powder and subsidised goods such as rice and sugar exceeding the set maximum price and failing to display price tags for some items sold in the business premises. Traders are advised to always conduct business ethically by complying with existing laws, including the Price Control Act.
