President Marcos’ PFP Forms Strategic Alliance with NUP to Transform the Philippines

MAKATI CITY — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) has formed a significant alliance with the National Unity Party (NUP) as both parties aim to unify their efforts towards national transformation. The agreement was signed on Saturday at the Manila Golf and Country Club in an event that underscored a mutual commitment to a transformative agenda for the Philippines.

According to Philippines News Agency, the alliance goes beyond mere political expediency or convenience, reflecting a deep-seated commitment to a shared vision for a “modern, safe, sustainable, growing country.” He emphasized the ideology of unity and transformation, heralding a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) and stressing the necessity of consensus and collaboration to realize these national goals. “What is the ideology that we are espousing? We speak now of unity. We speak now of Bagong Pilipinas, bringing the country, transforming the country to another place, to a better place than we had found it,” Marcos explained during the event.

The president highlighted the practical implications of the alliance, noting that it serves as a mechanism to address any potential political conflicts that might hinder their shared objectives. This formalized partnership aims to foster a cohesive approach to overcoming political obstacles, ensuring that both parties can work collaboratively without resorting to extreme measures such as party defections or independent runs.

The alliance, termed “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” builds on the foundation of a common purpose that transcends mere electoral support, aiming instead for a broad-based consensus on making the Philippines a “better place.” Marcos expressed confidence that the unified approach would bring about the transformative change envisioned, urging all involved to commit fully to the collective dream.

The event saw attendance from key political figures, including PFP president and South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., PFP executive vice president and Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr., NUP president and Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr., and NUP chairperson Ronaldo Puno. This alliance follows a recent accord signed with the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and the Nationalist People’s Coalition, further illustrating PFP’s strategy of strengthening ties with other major political entities to enhance governance and policy implementation.
