ILOILO CITY: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. addressed scouts on Monday, emphasizing their potential as agents of change while engaging in adventurous and fun activities. His remarks were made during the opening of the 18th National Scout Jamboree at Pintados de Passi Camp in Passi City, Iloilo, which saw the participation of around 35,000 individuals.

He recalled his own experiences attending similar jamborees with his father, underlining the importance of such events in the life of a scout and the lasting impact of the scouting movement in the Philippines. The jamboree, set to run until December 17, is taking place in an 80-hectare camp. Jacinto Abequibel Jr., the activity director of the Zamboanga Sibugay Council, highlighted the significance of the jamboree, considering it occurs only every four years and serves as a unique experience for senior scouts on the verge of college. Emmanuel Acabo, a 10th grader from Christ the King College de Maranding Inc. of Lanao del Norte, shared his enthusiasm for the event, noting the opportunity it provides for interaction with scouts from other councils and the role of scouting in fostering a spirit of brotherhood and altruism.
