The Policy Outreach and Exchange Seminar: On Building Regional Capacity for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation was to explore the potential for increased collaboration between the European Union, EU and ASEAN member states in establishing and supporting the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change. The one-day seminar held at a hotel in the capital also discussed the strengthening capacity-building initiatives, promoting knowledge-sharing, and facilitating joint research and innovation efforts, such as through the EU-ASEAN German Climate Action Programme.
Yesterday morning Seminar discussed on Researching Climate Change with Focus On Data, covered topics mobilising resources for adaptation and mitigation, best practices in climate policy initiatives, and strategies for strengthening research networks and collaborations. The panel discussions featured experts from various organizations, including the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat, the European Commission, tockholm Environment Institute, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB and Asian Institute of Technology.
Meanwhile in the afternoon, the seminat discussed on Building Capacity For Climate Action. Engineer Ahmad Za'iemaddien bin Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi, Head of Brunei Climate Change Secretariat in his closing remarks among others shared the Mandatory Reporting Directive that has been launched in April this year which requires all facilities that emit and or remove Greenhouse Gas emissions, including those within the activity chain, to report transparently that information on a quarterly and annual.
