Police Lieutenant Colonel Arrested in Carnapping Scheme in Parañaque
PARAÑAQUE—A police lieutenant colonel and two others were apprehended in connection with a carnapping incident, following an entrapment operation by the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) in Baclaran, Parañaque.
According to Philippines News Agency, Lt. Col. Gideon Ines Jr., aged 52, was taken into custody on June 5 after being implicated in the illegal sale of a rented multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). The arrest also included Michael Bautista, 42, and Lyn Tuazon, 52, who are believed to be Ines’s accomplices in the scheme. The operation was launched after the owner of the MPV, which had been rented out in Porac, Pampanga on June 2, discovered it was being sold for PHP350,000.
The vehicle’s owner sought police intervention when she was contacted by a prospective buyer attempting to verify her ownership of the MPV. This led to the coordinated entrapment operation that resulted in the trio’s arrest, highlighting ongoing efforts to crack down on vehicle theft and related criminal activities.
