Following the conclusion of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, as well as the observance of All Saints' and All Souls' Days, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has extended its heightened alert status to ensure the safety and security of travelers returning from the long weekend.
According to Philippines News Agency, information chief and spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo, while the last day of the highest security alert was initially set for Nov. 2, allowing officers to rest post-election duties, the decision to maintain this alert level has been left to the discretion of ground commanders. The National Headquarters has decided to remain on heightened alert until Nov. 6 as a precautionary measure for the influx of those returning from provinces and vacations.
Fajardo highlighted that the police assistance desks established at seaports, airports, bus terminals, and other convergence points will continue operations. The persistence of these measures is to guarantee that returning travelers, particularly those heading back to metropolitan areas for work and residence, will do so under the vigilant watch of PNP personnel until the anticipated final return by Monday.
