Central Visayas Schools to Resume with Blended Learning Post-Election Break
CEBU CITY – Following a pause due to the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections and the observance of Undas 2023, Central Visayas schools are set to resume classes this Friday utilizing a blended learning approach.
According to Philippines News Agency, the regional director of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Central Visayas, while there will be no face-to-face classes, students are expected to engage in modular learning. The decision comes as many students remain in their home provinces following the All Souls’ and All Saints’ Day celebrations.
Jimenez recognized that some schools, particularly those in more remote areas, may face challenges with online learning modalities. In light of this, he has provided teachers with the discretion to select suitable modular-printed materials for effectively conveying lessons to their students.
Moreover, Jimenez conveyed that DepEd-7 would apply no penalties to teachers who may deem it necessary to conduct in-person classes, based on the specific situations in their localities.
A DepEd memorandum dated October 27th detailed the instructional arrangements for October 31st and November 3rd, stating that “no physical attendance is required and public-school teaching personnel are not obligated to attend school physically on these dates.” The memorandum also highlighted the provision for blended learning, permitting school heads to utilize remote monitoring systems to oversee educational activities.
