Post: Pasay City Village Councilor Assassinated in Barangay Hall

PASAY CITY — A newly elected village councilor was shot dead within the confines of a barangay hall on Monday, shocking the local community.

According to Philippines News Agency, The Pasay City Police, in a report issued Tuesday, identified the victim as 58-year-old Marcelina Camacho, who had recently secured a seat as councilor in Barangay 37. Camacho, previously serving as the village secretary, was ambushed by two assailants on a motorcycle at around 5:35 p.m. inside the barangay hall on San Juan Street. Surveillance footage captured the moment the back-rider disembarked and fired two shots at Camacho before fleeing. Despite being rushed to the Adventist Medical Center, Camacho succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by 8:16 p.m. A stroke of fate led to the apprehension of one suspect, as the escape motorcycle collided with a pedestrian, resulting in the capture of the driver, alias Vladimer, 27, by patrolling drug enforcement officers. The gunman managed to evade arrest on foot and is currently the focus of a police manhunt. The apprehended accomplice is detained and faces murder charges.
