Paris Olympics Beach Volleyball Pools Announced for Men’s and Women’s Competitions
PARIS — The team arrangements for the men’s and women’s beach volleyball competitions at the upcoming Paris Olympics have been set, with participants distributed into six pools. The matches are scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 10 at the newly constructed 14,000-seat Olympic beach volleyball stadium in Champ-de-Mars Park.
According to Philippines News Agency, the men’s division features notable teams including defending champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway in Pool B. They are joined by teams from the Netherlands, Italy, and Chile. Pool A includes teams from Sweden, Italy, Qatar, and Australia, while Pool C features competitors from Germany, Poland, Australia, and France. Each pool consists of a mix of seasoned athletes and promising newcomers aiming for Olympic success.
In the women’s division, Tokyo Olympics silver medalists Mariafe Artacho and Taliqua Clancy of Australia are positioned in Pool B alongside teams from the USA, China, and Canada. Pool A sees strong competitors from Brazil, Italy, Spain, and Egypt. The format of the competition ensures that each team plays against every other team in their pool, with the top performers advancing to the elimination rounds.
The structure of the competition allows for the six pool winners, six runners-up, and the two highest-ranked third-place teams to automatically move on to the Round of 16. The remaining four third-placed teams will have a chance to compete in a ‘lucky loser’ round for the final two spots in the knockout phase. The Olympic beach volleyball event will conclude with the Round of 16, followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches, all conducted under a single-elimination format.
This strategic organization of teams and the comprehensive competition schedule set the stage for intense and thrilling beach volleyball action in one of the most picturesque settings of the Paris Olympics.
