PAGASA Issues Heat Index Warnings for 44 Philippine Areas

MANILA—The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a warning for dangerous heat index levels expected to affect 44 areas across the Philippines this Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, regions such as NAIA Pasay City in Metro Manila and Dagupan City in Pangasinan could experience heat index readings as high as 43°C and 48°C, respectively. Other notable areas include Laoag City in Ilocos Norte and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, both forecasted to face indices of 44°C and 45°C. The heat index, often referred to as the "real feel" temperature, combines air temperature and relative humidity to estimate how hot it feels to the human body.

PAGASA has strongly advised the public to limit outdoor activities, especially during the midday heat, to avoid heatstroke and dehydration. They recommend staying hydrated, using umbrellas, wearing hats, and dressing in light, long-sleeved clothing if going outside is necessary.

Additionally, the weather bureau indicated that the easterlies are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across the country. The general forecast also predicts light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas throughout the archipelago.
