Manila: The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) disbursed nearly PHP 450 million in medical assistance to at least 70,000 Filipinos through its Medical Assistance Program (MAP) in Q3 2023.
According to a statement released by PCSO Chairman Junie Cua, 71,302 indigents received PHP 447.83 million in aid between July and September, pushing the total aid for the year to PHP 1.21 billion, benefitting 185,727 Filipinos and their families.
In 2022, PCSO released PHP 1.39 billion in MAP assistance, reaching 210,731 Filipinos in need. Cua emphasized the importance of the program, stating it is a "big help" for those requiring various medical treatments. He expressed gratitude to those who patronize PCSO games, noting that participation contributes to a cooperative endeavor benefiting Filipinos through the MAP.
According to PCSO's mandate, 30 percent of its revenues are allocated for its charity fund, 55 percent for prizes, and 15 percent for its operations. In the second quarter of this year, 53,600 beneficiaries received more than PHP 354 million in assistance, while over 60,700 Filipinos received about PHP 410 million in the first quarter.
