Northeast Monsoon Brings Cloudy Skies and Isolated Light Rains Over Luzon

MANILA — The northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan,’ will result in cloudy skies accompanied by isolated light rains over most parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

According to a new release by Philippines News Agency, the northeast monsoon will specifically bring cloudy conditions and rains over Quezon and the Bicol Region. In contrast, Metro Manila and the remaining areas of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) and localized thunderstorms are expected to cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Northern Luzon will experience moderate winds and coastal waters, while the rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds accompanied by slight to moderate seas. PAGASA also provided temperature forecasts for various cities: Metro Manila is expected to see temperatures ranging from 24°C to 31°C; Baguio City, 16°C to 23°C; Laoag City, 24°C to 32°C; Legazpi City, 25°C to 32°C; Metro Cebu, 26°C to 31°C; Puerto Princesa City, 25°C to 30°C; and Metro Davao, 24°C to 33°C.
