Negros Occidental Prioritizes Enhanced Immunization to Protect Vulnerable Populations
BACOLOD: The Negros Occidental provincial government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving immunization against Covid-19 and other vaccine-preventable diseases. This announcement was made during a three-day project orientation on the Covid-19 Vaccine Delivery Support Tranche (CDS 3) held at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City. The event, a collaboration between Relief International, UNICEF, and the Department of Health (DOH), is part of efforts to bolster vaccination for high-risk populations in the province.
According to Philippines News Agency, while significant progress has been made in vaccinating residents, challenges remain in reaching the most vulnerable groups. Provincial Health Office data indicates that 66.04 percent of the target population has been vaccinated against Covid-19 as of July last year. Lacson emphasized the critical role of immunization in controlling the spread of deadly diseases. The CDS 3 project aims to integrate Covid-19 vaccination with routine immunization programs and strategize actions to increase coverage, particularly in priority areas.
