Post: NBI Plans to Recruit 120 Agents to Strengthen Anti-Cybercrime Unit

Manila, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced on Monday its plan to hire around 120 agents to enhance its cybercrime division. This declaration was made by NBI Director Medardo de Lemos during the agency's 87th anniversary in Manila.

According to Philippines News Agency, the recruitment is part of a broader initiative to fill 400 positions in the coming year, backed by a PHP91 million budget allocated by the Senate for employee salaries. The focus of these new agents will be on anti-cybercrime operations.

The NBI's expansion efforts include the construction of a new national headquarters, envisioned to support the agency's growth. This development follows a recent fire incident at the old building located at the corner of Taft Ave. and United Nations Ave. in Manila. De Lemos clarified that the fire, suspected to have been caused by welding activities during demolition works, did not compromise the NBI's records or equipment.
