BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – An emergency response exercise, dubbed Naga-Tujuh, was conducted to simulate a gas leak incident at Hengyi Industries, potentially harmful to staff. The exercise commenced at 9 AM on November 2nd and was executed at three critical locations: Pulau Muara Besar, the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, and the Combined Security Operations Centre.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the exercise saw the participation of Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, as well as Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs. The scenario involved over two hundred personnel from fifteen different agencies, highlighting the inter-agency collaboration for national security and emergency preparedness.
The Naga 7 exercise was a continuation of Hengyi Industries' commitment to safety and security, following their Level Three Security Emergency Response 'Table Top' Exercise in January 2021. The presence of Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Economy, and Awang Haji Mohammad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Energy in the Prime Minister's Office, underscored the importance of the drill.
This comprehensive emergency drill aimed to strengthen the coordination and response capabilities of the involved agencies in the event of a real industrial incident, ensuring the safety of industrial workers and the effectiveness of security measures in place.
