Minister of Religious Affairs Highlights Importance of Religious Education During School Visit

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, emphasized the role of Islamic education in instilling religious principles and values. This approach is seen as essential in building a society that uses religion as a guide for life. During his visit to the Pengiran Muda Mohamed Bolkiah Religious School in Temburong District, the minister highlighted the importance of enhancing religious knowledge to engage with scholarly debates and to avoid fanaticism.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ work visit focused on evaluating the implementation of the ‘Sekolahku Ilmuku, Ugamaku Keberkatanku’ (SIUK) Program for Primary 4 pupils. This initiative is designed to improve the quality of religious education by fostering a conducive and positive learning environment in schools.
Earlier in the day, the delegation visited the Batu Marang Religious School in the Brunei Muara District. The consistent efforts in these visits underline the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that religious education remains a cornerstone in nurturing well-rounded, knowledgeable individuals who can contribute positively to society.
