Manila: St. Benilde and Perpetual Seek NCAA Volleyball Titles

MANILA - The College of St. Benilde (CSB) aims to sweep the NCAA women's volleyball title against Letran at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Sunday. The Lady Blazers won Game 1 of the best-of-three series, 25-21, 25-15, 25-14, on May 19, with Michelle Gamit and Gayle Pascual each scoring 14 points and Zamantha Nolasco adding 12 points. CSB seeks a third consecutive 11-game title sweep.

According to Philippines News Agency, CSB coach Jerry Yee stated, "One more game, there's still work to do. It's up to you if you say it is boring, mismatch or whatever, but we have to work and secure this." A deciding game, if necessary, will be played on June 1. Meanwhile, the University of Perpetual Help aims for its fourth consecutive men's title against Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Led by reigning MVP Louie Ramirez, the Altas won Game 1, 24-26, 25-20, 27-25, 25-19, moving closer to achieving a league-best 14th crown. Ramirez scored 23 points, with Jefferson Marapoc contributing 20 points and Kobe Tabuga adding 16 points, including five blocks. EAC's Ervin Patrick Osabel, who scored 18 spikes and three blocks in Game 1, is expected to lead his team.
